Rental Blacklist is a community of renters. We collect stories from real tenants about rentals that ended in fraud, a withheld deposit, hidden defects, or other dishonest behavior by the owner — so future renters can check an address before they sign a lease. Moderators are an abuse filter, not an editorial desk
Every request is manually reviewed by moderators before it reaches the public map — but that's a filter against spam, insults, and clear abuse, not a ruling on who's right in a dispute. See the Community Guidelines for details.
Severity levels
Each point on the map is colored by how serious the problem is — from a single misunderstanding to systematic fraud against tenants.
- Low Minor issues: inaccurate listing details, small everyday disagreements.
- Medium Significant broken agreements: slow fixes, disputed deposit deductions.
- High Serious violations of tenant rights: unlawful eviction, refusing to return a deposit without grounds.
- Critical Systematic fraud: renting out nonexistent housing, multiple victims, threats.
